Join me in finding a new name for those of us over 50. Let's eliminate the term "seniors"; that doesn't apply to us. We're so much more than that. Help me find a new word; a new term and together we'll coin the new expression. So send in your suggestions. Add it to the "Comment" section and let's begin to change how we're viewed.

  1. I have been trying to come up with a new term, but nothing brilliant yet. I will keep trying and check back here often.

  3. We are the "Baby Boomers" so in our "Mid Life" what name do we owe ourselves? Our cohort generation title was given to us without our expressed permissions. We all have more years behind us than in front of us. So my fellow AARP clan what can we pull from our formative development to inspire us to create a new and dynamic name for ourselves to capitalize on the time yet to be lived?

  4. Enjoyed your post very much!

Well, the new "label" would have to apply to the next generation when they reach this level, too, and the next and the next. So what are we when reach a certain age? We should be wiser for our experiences. How about "Benefactors" - because at this age we tend to look at what our legacy will be and think of ways we can give back to those that come after us, whether it is what we know, what we have learned, or what we have earned. Many our age volunteer and feel great satisfaction for doing so. It has an appealing feel and image to it.

If I think of something else, I'll write back.

    Thanks for asking! Ann

  7. I like Diamaonds too. I think it should apply up to the age 80. I feel we still have alot of living to do. After that we could be called the Pearl Legacists. Pearls are reminiscent of an older generation and we are going to leave are legecy behind. I just saw this and have to get to work. So you'll have me thinking all day. Great idea. I didn't want to be called a senior either.
